Fishing report July 1 to 8. Fishing at the end of June was pretty straight forward for us. Full on mayfly hatch meant we fished McIntyre Bay on Lac Seul almost every day. Fishing shallow weed lines and muddy wind blown bays yielded excellent walleye and pike fishing. We averaged 100 plus fish every day and fished the same 4 spots for the entire last week of June. Mayfly hatch can be a curse for some but it also concentrates walleyes if u know where they feed on mayflys fortunately the fish were stacked on the spots we were fishing and it made for a relaxing enjoyable week.
Many walleyes over 25 and 2
Over 28 including a 31
Inch monster. For the first week of July I was at our closest outpost camp (clace lake). We
Mainly we're working but every night we had a couple hours to fish. We fished 40 yards from the dock on a shallow reef and caught as many 22 to 26
Inch walleyes as u could want. Usually 2 at time. The fish just finished mayfly hatch water was 77 degrees and the walleyes were ravenous. Never had fishing so easy at the outpost
In July we literally fished the same reef for 5 days.
So fishing has been smoking hot lately and the fish are
Now on reefs which makes the rest if the summer
Very easy for us. Large pike are in the cabbage so I can't
Wait to start casting.
See ya.
